Presentation of Lac De Villedon

Discover Lake Villedon – a timeless gem in the heart of France’s Poitou-Charentes region. This stunning, historic estate is a true paradise for passionate anglers. Well known among Dutch and Belgian fishermen, the lake is famous for its spectacular carp – some weighing up to 75 lbs – offering an unforgettable big carp fishing experience in France.

Set across 36 hectares of peaceful French countryside, Lake Villedon offers a truly unforgettable carp fishing experience. The venue features one fully equipped swim with on-site accommodation and 12 additional bivvy-friendly pegs designed for comfort and privacy. Anglers can enjoy the freedom of using rowing boats and bait boats, and the lake is also dog-friendly, making it the perfect destination for relaxing carp fishing holidays in France.

One of Lake Villedon’s most unique features is its exclusive boat-only access and crystal-clear water, free from algae growth – perfect for an exceptional fishing experience. The English-speaking owner ensures every guest enjoys a warm welcome and a truly memorable stay amid the rolling hills and peaceful countryside of the Poitou-Charentes region.

Facilities of Lac De Villedon

On the western side of the lake, near the main entrance, you’ll find Lake Villedon’s key facilities, including a well-stocked fishing tackle shop and the option to pre-order breakfast and dinner. For anglers eager to start their fishing week fully prepared, early arrival on Friday before 7 PM is possible, with secure on-site parking allowing you to stay overnight close to your vehicle.

For a more comfortable stay, a cosy cabin is available near a prime carp hotspot. Perfect for two anglers, the cabin offers basic amenities including single beds, a small kitchen, a fridge, and a lounge area, all powered by electricity. Renovated in winter 2013/2014, it remains a simple, no-frills option, ideal for anglers seeking comfort rather than luxury.

Rowing boats are available at every swim, and electric motor hire is also offered. Please note that access to all swims is by boat only, and no vehicles are permitted near the fishing pegs, ensuring a peaceful and natural environment for all anglers.

Rules of Lac De Villedon

Anglers are welcome from 1 PM and must depart by 10 AM. Night fishing is allowed, provided all established rules are respected. To safeguard the health of the fish, landing nets and weigh sacks must be soaked in antiseptic tubs located near the swims. Each angler may use up to four rods, but braided main lines, leadcore, and leaders are not permitted, and fixed rigs are prohibited in favour of safety rigs with freely sliding leads to ensure the welfare of the fish.

Only barbless or micro-barb hooks size 4 or smaller are permitted, and predator fishing is strictly prohibited. Rowing boats may be used at your own risk, with life jackets mandatory. Anglers are welcome to bring their own inflatable boats, which can be inflated in the car park to avoid congestion at the landing point. Fish must not be kept in retention sacks, and each angler will receive a free Proline Extreme Protection unhooking mat.

Maintaining clean swims is essential, and the use of barbecues or open fires is strictly prohibited. Pets are allowed under certain conditions, and anglers must bring their own portable toilets. Payments by cash or debit card are accepted on site. Any breach of the rules may result in immediate expulsion without compensation, and management reserves the right to inspect fishing gear, bait, and transport. Drone use is permitted only within the boundaries of your swim, in compliance with privacy regulations. The lake owner accepts no responsibility for injury, theft, or damage occurring on site, except in cases of serious negligence.
