The rules of Étang du Monastère must be strictly followed. Any violation will result in immediate expulsion without refund. Upon arrival, anglers are required to read and sign a rules compliance form. The site is monitored 24/7 to ensure angler safety and to protect the fish stock.
Vehicles must park in designated areas, and the entrance gate must be closed and locked. Dogs are allowed, but must be kept on a leash and under supervision. Minors are the responsibility of their accompanying adult and must not move around the pond alone. Excessive alcohol consumption, loud behavior, and drug use are strictly prohibited.
A mobile home at the entrance provides anglers with electric outlets, sanitary facilities, and a refrigerator. The site must be kept clean, and all waste should be taken away upon departure.
Rules of fishing
Catch-and-release (No Kill) fishing is mandatory, and carp must not be placed in keep sacks. Each fishing swim has a designated area, with one hectare (≈2.5 acres) of water per swim to ensure tranquility for all anglers. A maximum of three rods per angler is allowed, although it is recommended to use only two to reduce fishing pressure.
Arrivals are possible from 1:00 PM, and departures must be made by 12:00 PM at the latest. Rig checks are carried out randomly. Lighting must be kept discreet to respect the tranquility of the site. A weighing sling is mandatory for handling fish out of the water, and trolleys are available for transporting fishing gear.
Allowed baits include hemp seeds, tiger nuts (limited to 1 kg / ≈2.2 lbs per day), corn, and high-quality boilies to ensure the well-being of the fish.
Mandatory equipment
Shelters must be neutral in color, and only single, barbless hooks are allowed. Rigs must allow for lead release, and fluorocarbon is recommended for margin fishing. Each swim is equipped with a landing mat, landing net, and Trakker weighing sling, provided free of charge (a deposit check is required). A bottle of fish healing solution is also available on-site.
Bait boats are permitted, both day and night, as long as they remain within the designated fishing zones.
Prohibited Equipment
Dangerous rigs, such as Bent Hooks, and braided mainlines are strictly prohibited. Zodiacs, rowboats, and other vessels are not allowed (except float-tubes for predator fishing). Peanuts and lupin are also banned to ensure the well-being of the fish.
Étang du Monastère offers a unique fishing experience, blending nature and history in a pristine setting where every catch is earned and fish welfare is paramount.
