Located in Haute-Vienne (87), Étang de Manus is a must-visit destination for carp fishing enthusiasts seeking a true sport fishing experience. Open from March to November, the site offers a wooded, natural setting designed for comfort and convenience. The pond covers 1.8 hectares (≈4.4 acres) and features two fishing swims, each equipped with permanent bivvies, a cook tent, and all the essential fishing accessories for an optimal session — including a landing mat, landing net, weighing tripod, scale, weigh sling, and a bucket for fish care. Swim 1 can accommodate two anglers, while Swim 2 is suitable for one or two anglers.
The fish population of the pond includes a variety of carp species such as koi, mirror, and common carp, along with white amur and albino catfish. Fishing sessions are exclusively available for a minimum duration of 48 hours, ensuring a peaceful and immersive fishing experience. On-site amenities include dry toilets and a shower for added comfort. Access to the fishing swims is on foot, but trolleys are available to help transport gear from the entrance.
The pond allows night fishing and is secured by video surveillance. Guests are welcome, as well as pets, provided they are kept on a leash.
The use of bait boats is permitted, and the pond can be booked exclusively for a private fishing experience.
Anglers must follow the rules below when fishing at Étang de Manus:
Check-in is scheduled at 2:00 PM and check-out at 1:00 PM. The fishing swims are not accessible by car, but trolleys are available to help transport equipment. Visits are strictly prohibited — only registered companions are allowed, free of charge. It is essential to keep the site clean; all waste must be taken away by visitors. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash under the owner’s responsibility. The use of drugs and excessive alcohol consumption are strictly forbidden. Swimming and washing dishes in the pond are also prohibited.
Each fishing swim is equipped with a permanent bivvy, a cook tent, a landing mat, a landing net, a weighing tripod, a scale, a weigh sling, a bucket for fish care, and a barbecue. Fishing is strictly catch-and-release (No Kill), and all rig setups must allow the lead to be released in case of line breakage. A maximum of four rods per angler is allowed, with a total of six rods for two anglers. Fish must never be handled roughly — photos should be taken while kneeling or sitting, and the fish should be kept out of the water for the shortest time possible. Uncooked particles, braided mainlines, leadcore leaders, and retention slings are strictly prohibited. Compliance with these rules is essential; in case of non-compliance, the angler will be immediately expelled without refund, and legal action may be taken in cases of serious misconduct.
